STORY BEHIND SUNFLOWER
Part of Annika Reed Studio’s Upstairs Downstairs collection, Sunflower belongs to the Downstairs chapter – four sophisticated single stem botanicals that root the home in the rhythm of the British seasons. Inspired by the classic 2 up, 2 down home, the collection celebrates the grounding embrace of nature below and the boundless wonder of childhood above.
In folklore, the sunflower represents adoration, loyalty, and the warmth of the sun itself. It’s a flower that follows the light, a reminder to seek brightness in both garden and life.
Traditionally associated with lifting low moods and inviting joy, its cheerful face is a tonic for the soul. Hand carved in Annika’s Somerset studio using traditional woodblock techniques, this design captures that radiant spirit, turning any space into a place of welcome, optimism, and golden warmth.
