Carve and print your own fabric and turn it into a beautiful lampshade with artist and educator Annika Reed – designed to be enjoyed by beginners and experienced makers alike.
Put technology on pause and learn the ancient art of block printing. Annika will demonstrate how to make a repeat pattern and turn it into a block and together we will go through each stage of the block printing process. Then it’s your turn as you carve your own linoleum block and print a length of natural linen and explore and develop your own pattern repeat. Then watch how to turn your printed fabric into a beautiful drum lampshade to adorn your home.
This workshop provides a creative approach to pattern and includes all materials. It is advisable to bring a sketchbook of design ideas or drawings although not essential. Wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting messy (an apron is great)
