Join a Woodblock Workshop
Step into the world of Woodblock Workshop, where you’ll design, carve, and print your own piece—no pre-carved blocks here. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to explore a new technique, these Woodblock Workshops are all about making, experimenting, and enjoying the process.
This year, I’m running Woodblock Workshops from my Somerset studio and beyond, bringing hands on printing to new spaces ~ from interior design studios to trade events.

The Art of Woodblock Printing
Woodblock printing is one of the oldest forms of printmaking, yet it remains as exciting and relevant today. It’s a craft of patience and precision, where simple materials, wood, ink, and paper come together to create something unique.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve explored this technique across the world, from studying in China to working in Paula Rego’s studio in Portugal. The beauty of woodblock is their versatility, you can print on paper, fabric, or even ceramics, and no two prints are ever exactly the same.
Unlike many woodblock workshops, where you might print from a pre-carved block, here you’ll create your own design from scratch, carving and printing something entirely original.

What to Expect at a Woodblock Workshop
Each of my Woodblock Workshops is welcoming, hands on, and designed to let you explore at your own pace. Here’s what you’ll do:
Introduction to Woodblock Printing – A look at the process, materials, and history behind the craft.
Design & Sketch – You’ll create your own design, rather than printing from a pre-made block.
Carve Your Block – Learn how to use traditional tools to bring your design to life.
Ink & Print – Experiment with colours, layering, and textures to create your own finished piece. This could be a white line woodblock, reduction woodblock or block print onto fabric to turn into a table cloth, lampshade, cushion. The possibilities are endless.
Explore Further – Ideas for how to take what you’ve learned and apply it to future projects.
Each Woodblock Workshop is kept small to allow for plenty of one-on-one guidance.
All materials are included, and you’ll leave with your own hand-printed designs and the confidence to keep printing at home.

Why Join a Woodblock Workshop?
Making by hand has a way of slowing everything down. Woodblock Workshops give you a chance to take time away from screens, work with your hands, and enjoy the rhythm of carving and printing.
These Woodblock Workshops aren’t just about learning a skill—they’re about the experience of making something from start to finish. Whether in my Somerset studio or a beautifully curated interior space, every session is a chance to step into a world of pattern, colour, and print.

Looking Ahead to 2025
This year, I’ll be bringing Woodblock Workshops to new places, from design studios to creative events. I also offer bespoke Woodblock Workshops for groups whether it’s a team-building day, a private class, or something tailored to a particular space or project.
