STORY BEHIND DAHLIA
Part of Annika Reed Studio’s Upstairs Downstairs collection, Dahlia belongs to the Downstairs chapter – four sophisticated single stem botanicals that root the home in the rhythm of the British seasons. Inspired by the classic 2 up, 2 down home, the collection celebrates the grounding embrace of nature below and the boundless wonder of childhood above.
In Victorian floriography, the dahlia symbolised dignity, elegance, and lifelong commitment. It was often planted at the gates of grand houses, a floral emblem of the household’s strength and character.
Hand carved in Annika’s Somerset studio using traditional woodblock techniques, this design distils that legacy into a poised, graphic form. Thought to lift the spirit and promote inner confidence, Dahlia brings warmth without fuss and sophistication without pretence, a grounding presence that makes any room feel considered and complete.
