Shove Ha'Penny 100% Irish Linen
Shove Ha’Penny is most often played in pubs, leaning over a worn table with a drink balanced nearby. Coins are slid along marked lines, judged closely, argued over quietly. It’s a game that carries a sense of tradition without ceremony learned in passing, picked up from whoever happens to be better at it. The pace is slow, the focus sharp, and the satisfaction comes from getting it just right.
The design takes its cue from the linear markings of the board, interrupted by the movement of the coins themselves. Lines run across the fabric with small shifts and uneven spacing, drawn by hand and printed from woodcut blocks so nothing feels too exact.
Shove Ha’Penny is designed to sit easily alongside our wallpapers, adding rhythm without competing for attention. It also works confidently on its own, particularly for curtains, blinds and upholstery, where its linear pattern brings structure with a relaxed feel.

STORY BEHIND SHOVE HA'PENNY
Part of Annika Reed Studio’s Games collection, Games explores the idea of play, learned or invented, structured or free, passed from one person to another. Some games feel familiar, others less so, yet all share a gentle rhythm of turns, focus, and trying again.
Each pattern turns that sense of order and chance into cloth: repeats, shifts, and balanced compositions. Nostalgic but not time bound, the collection feels playful, grounded, and easy to live with at home.
