Part of Annika Reed Studio’s Upstairs Downstairs collection, Fly Away into Space belongs to the Upstairs chapter wallpapers designed to open up whole new worlds. Inspired by the thrill of discovery and the beauty of asking “what if?”, it’s a pattern that encourages curiosity and invites children to drift into their own imagined galaxies.
One of my favourite children’s books has always been Whatever Next! And I now love reading it to my own kids. A cardboard box, a colander, and off to the moon we go. That’s the spirit of Float Away into Space, imagination without limits, play that takes you places, and walls that hold stories long after the lights go out.
Carved by hand in my Somerset studio using traditional woodblock techniques, it’s a pattern that celebrates possibility in all its forms. Not just rockets and stars, but the everyday magic of dreaming up new worlds.
